How to Play Hike For Brainrot
Complete beginner walkthrough from your first spawn to earning passive income.
Getting Started
Hike For Brainrot is a Roblox climbing simulator where you scale a massive snowy mountain, collect meme-inspired brainrot characters, and build a passive income empire at your base. Created by Straight Plays and released in April 2026, the game has attracted over 5.8 million visits with its unique blend of vertical platforming and idle tycoon mechanics.
When you first join, you spawn at Base Camp at the bottom of the mountain. Your jump power starts low, limiting how high you can climb. The game guides you toward the upgrade shop where you spend earned cash on Jump Power, Speed, and Carry capacity.
Step 1: Learn the Controls
Before climbing, familiarize yourself with movement. On PC, use WASD to move and Spacebar to jump. On mobile, use the virtual joystick and jump button. Press E (or tap interact) to pick up brainrots and use UI buttons for upgrades. See our full controls reference for every platform.
Step 2: Buy Your First Upgrade
Head to the upgrade shop near base camp. Spend your starting cash on Jump Power first — this is the single most important stat because it unlocks higher mountain zones where rarer brainrots spawn. Speed and Carry become important later, but Jump Power should be your priority for the first 30 minutes. Read the detailed Jump Power upgrade guide for cost efficiency tips.
Step 3: Climb and Collect Brainrots
With upgraded jump power, start climbing the mountain slopes. Brainrots spawn at fixed locations at each elevation zone. The higher you climb, the better the brainrots:
- Base Camp: Common brainrots like Noobini Pizzanini ($5/s)
- Lower Slopes: Uncommon units like Tralalero Tralala ($150/s)
- Mid Mountain: Rare brainrots like Golden Elephanto ($120/s)
- Summit Approach: Legendary units like Squidward Brainrot ($68K/s)
Press E near a brainrot to pick it up. Your carry capacity limits how many you can hold at once — upgrade Carry when you need to haul multiple units per trip.
Step 4: Place Brainrots at Base
Return to your base and place collected brainrots on available stands. Once placed, they generate passive cash income automatically — even while you are climbing again. Higher rarity brainrots produce dramatically more income. A single Squidward Brainrot at $68,000/s can fund dozens of upgrade purchases within minutes.
Step 5: Upgrade and Repeat
Collect the cash your brainrots generate, return to the upgrade shop, and invest in more Jump Power to reach higher zones. Each climbing cycle should target the next elevation tier on the mountain zone map. This loop — climb, collect, place, upgrade — is the core of Hike For Brainrot progression.
Step 6: Watch for Avalanches
As you climb above Lower Slopes, random avalanches can sweep down the mountain and knock you off slopes. If you are carrying brainrots when hit, you may drop them. Learn survival tactics in our avalanche avoidance guide before pushing into High Ridge and above.
Step 7: Plan for Rebirth
Once your income growth slows and you meet the in-game rebirth requirements, consider resetting for a permanent cash multiplier. Rebirth is the key to endgame progression — see our rebirth guide for timing strategies and the alt account trick that preserves your best brainrots.
